Sunyi was born in Texas and raised in Hong Kong. She emigrated to the UK in 2005 and now lives in Leeds.

As a writer of speculative fiction, her short stories have featured in places like The Best of British SciFi 2018, and BBC Radio Leeds. She is also a member of Leeds Writer Circle, the SFWA, and the BSFA.
